Change is coming
... and a community that’s
prepared before hand, that
uses local resources, that
is not entirely dependent
on municipal water,
electricity and
supermarkets, will be far
better off - not to mention
benefiting the community,
the environment and their
health.

Considering the number of chemical pesticides, fertilizers and
preservatives used in fresh produce these days, Hout Bay is
very fortunate to have a constant supply of local organic
produce. But they cannot surivive without your support. Take
advantage of this easy access to organic food and support
our local organic farmers
1. The Health Path Organic Market on Thursday
mornings - 41 Victoria Rd. Fresh produce picked that
morning from Kirsten's thriving permaculture garden.
2. Hout Bay Organics run by Organic Farmer and
Horticulturist Nisbert Ndhlovu is an astonishingly well
established organic garden on the way up to Constantia Nek
opposite the Applegarth sign. You can get his produce at the
Bay Harbour Market on Saturdays and Sundays, but you can
also visit the plot when you see the gate open and his
"Organic Veggies" sign outside. Go right in and pick whatever
you like . He can also arrange a mixed box of veggies for
you every week, to just swing by and collect. Call Nisbert on
083 530 7066 or just pop in.
It is said that organic produce has 70% more nutritional value
than conventionally grown produce. Not to mention a far
better taste.
